Robots, Laser Guns, & Legos: Regarding Gay Marriage...

simonkillu:

Today was a big day for anyone who is gay. ”Acceptance and equality may finally be upon us!” etc. etc. I found the entire thing rather tiresome, the uproar, the hype, the incessant red photos and the insistence that anyone who didn’t post one was a bigot… ”We are beyond this,” I thought. ”So much…

1st30SongsonShuffle playlist gifting- Heartsandroses

1st30onShuffle playlists-@Heartsandroses

I put out a request, inspired by a hashtag on Twitter, to ask my feed for their first 30 songs on shuffle.  I promised I would buy all of the songs I didn’t own on their list, listen to them, decide on my favorite, and then gift them.

Here is @Heartsandroses’s 1st 30 songs on shuffle:

1. Another Day - Rent soundtrack

2. Before It’s Too Late - The Goo Goo Dolls

3. Ben - Glee Cast

4. Can’t Stay Away - Kris Allen

5. Cough Syrup - Glee Cast

6. Crush - Glee Cast

7. Deeper - James Durbin

8. Everybody Wants To Rule the World - Tears for Fears

9. Express Yourself - Glee Cast

10. I Want You - Kelly Clarkson

11. I Won’t Give Up - Glee Cast

12. Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri

13. Just Like You - Allison Iraheta

14. Just Missed The Train - Kelly Clarkson

15. Like A Prayer - Glee Cast

16. Live Like We’re Dying - Kris Allen

17. Monster - Kris Allen

18. A Night to Remember - High School Musical

19. Not the Boy Next Door - Glee Cast

20. Outta My Head - Daughtry

21. Red - Taylor Swift

22. Seasons of Love - Rent cast

23. Sleepwalker - Adam Lambert

24. Smooth Criminal - Glee Cast

25. Vision of Love - Kris Allen

26. You And I - Lady Gaga

27. You Don’t Belong - Daughtry

28. The Only Exception - Glee Cast

29. A Heart Full of Love - Les Miserables

30. I Want to Hold Your Hand - Glee cast

Now this girl loves her musicals, Glee, and my bbs Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta.   I must make a disclaimer here; I’m always gonna love my Kradison, and I love virtually everything they put out in any form.  I will gift any of them on this list in addition to the new ones listed below.

Just a comment on the Glee tracts; for the most part, I like the originals better, but I have to hand it to the show.  They have made classic oldies popular again.  I urge you to listen to their versions as well as the Glee versions.  You just can’t beat the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, The Beatles, and Paramore.

Having said that, I’m going to tell you the tracts that I will be gifting and why.  Just request them at sdljroller@msn.com.  Just put the artist and tracks you would like me to gift.  Be sure to put your US iTunes email address in the body of the email so I can send it to you.

So here are my choices:

1. Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri, just because this has one of my favorite set of lyrics ever.

2. You and I - Lady Gaga.  If you don’t think you like Gaga, try this track.  It is in my top 5 of hers and doesn’t sound like her typical fare.

3. Before It’s Too Late - The Goo Goo Dolls  Just because it’s different

Here are my thoughts that may help you decide to try some of the others.  If you haven’t seen Rent, you must.  See it on Broadway or get it from Netflix or whatever.  A period piece now, but with some of my favorite music. If you ever get to New York or London, Les Mis is a classic that should not be missed.  I happened to think the movie version was amazing, even though some of the actor/singers are not the strongest.   Daughtry and Kelly are just icons.  If you don’t have their music, try some.  These tracts are not my favorites of theirs by any means.  But overall their work is amazing.

This was fun, and I’ll do it again with a different list tomorrow.  So let me know in the next 12 hours if you want me to gift you the 3 listed above or the Kradison tracts.  Cheers and happy listening.

1st30onShuffle playlists-tmg 84

I put out a request, inspired by a hashtag on Twitter, to ask my feed for their first 30 songs on shuffle.  I promised I would buy all of the songs I didn’t own on their list, listen to them, decide on my favorite, and then gift them.

Here is @tmg84’s 1st 30 songs on shuffle:

1. Light Years - Xenia

2. Nothin’ But Love - Brendan James

3. The Scientist - Coldplay

4. Breakeven - The Script

5. Stupid Girl - Garbage

6. Telephone Games - Jack and White

7. Never Gonna Give You Up - The Black Keys

8. I Love You But I Don’t Know To Say - Ryan Adams

9. Hurt - Nine Inch Nails

10. Goin’ to the Party - Alabama Shakes

11. The Joy - Kanye West, Curtis Mayfield

12. Ket Me Love You - Ne-Yo

13. The Mess We’re In - PJ Harvey

14. Down By The Water - PJ Harvey

15. Yet Again - Grizzly Bear

16. If You Go - Vedera

17. Nothing But Time - Metric

18. Put the Gun Down - ZZ Ward

19. We Used to Wait - Arcade Fire

20. Spotlight - Mutemath

21. Show Me - Bruno Mars

22. Runaway - Grace Potter & The Nocturnals

23. Brokenhearted - Karmin

24. Ghosts (Demo) - Florence & The Machine

25. Bittersweet Melodies - Feist

26. Lay Me Down - Graffiti6

27. Let It Rain - Kris Allen

28. Stand By Me - John Lennon

29. Monster - Kris Allen

30. Everybody Wants To Rule the World - Tears For Fears

Eclectic huh? I must make a disclaimer here; I’m always gonna love one of my boys Kris Allen, and I love virtually everything he has put out in any form, but if you don’t know or think you don’t like him, try Monster on this list.  It is not something you’d think Kris would write or sing.  It is his “dark side”.  I will always gift Kris.

Having said that, I’m going to tell you the more obscure tracts that I really liked, were new to me, and that I’m going to gift to anyone who requests them at sdljroller@msn.com.  Just put the artist and track you would like me to gift.  Be sure to put your US iTunes email address in the body of the email so I can send it to you.

So here are my choices:

1. Brendan James’s Nothin’ But Love is just a pleasant little ditty, that really caught my attention and made me feel good.  Enough said.

2. Telephone Games by Jack and White (as in Brooke White of Idol) is a just a haunting and original duet with a pop country flavor.

3. I Love You But I Don’t Know What to Say by Ryan Adams is a slow, satisfying bluesy piece that is filled with emotion.

4. Runaway by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals is a funky alternative pop song that caught my attention right away with a beat that’s undeniable.

Here are my thoughts that may help you decide to try some of the others.  If You Go by Vedera reminds me of a fresher Katy Perry.  Put The Gun Down by ZZ Ward is a kinda alternative country tract that moves along and is different and fun.  Show Me is a reggae wonderland by Bruno that I really, really like.  Brokenhearted is a blast that is a more refined Kesha-esk song.  It is pure pop gold.  If you want to hear pain, listen to Hurt by NIN.  It is not for the weak, but it is aural pain.

I did not hate any of them but a few of them I won’t be listening to again. This is a playlist for the person that likes a little bit of everything. This was fun, and I’ll do it again with a different list tomorrow.  So let me know in the next 12 hours if you want me to gift you the 4 listed above.  Cheers and happy listening.
